Marching Home: Chapter 7“I have something for you, Sué,” Lu Ten sat down beside his fiancée in the rock garden.Marching Home: Chapter 7 by AuraMajesty
“Yes?” She smiled politely, but her eyes lit up.
“It’s not much… it was Dad’s idea.” He handed her a scroll.
She unwrapped it, and her smile grew broader. “It looks just like you. Now I wish I had something for you.”
“It’s all right.”
He looked at the writing on his portrait.
“You’ll see me at the victory?” She asked.
“When Dad and I take Ba Sing Se… that’s when we’re supposed to get married.”
“I know I should have written a poem, but I’m horrible at it. My tutor had fits.”
Sué giggled. “I’m glad you didn’t write a poem. They’re usually all flowery and not all true.”
He shrugged then she suddenly put the portrait aside.
“So you realize
Marching Home: Chapter 6“Lu Ten,” Iroh called. “Are you dressed yet? Your fiancée will be here soon.”Marching Home: Chapter 6 by AuraMajesty
“I’m dressed,” the eighteen-year-old stepped out of his room, wearily. “After three tries… are you finally satisfied?”
“It’s important to make a good first-impression on a lady,” Iroh explained, and then winked. “Especially when she’s to be your wife.”
“I thought you were covered in mud and had been thrown off your komodo-rhino when you met Mom.”
He blushed. “Yes. It was my great idea to impress her by riding out to meet her. Unfortunately, my mount got stung by a hornet-crow, and I lost control. Your grandfather almost disinherited me.”
“Over a fall?”
“He thought it jeopardized the betrothal. But since you and Sué are only having tea, there’s no danger of that.” He clapped Lu Ten on the back then asked, “Are you nervous?”

Zuko smiled as he saw his daughter feeding a little turtle-duck that got out of the water going after the bread in Aiko’s hand. The turtle-duck mother approached squawking intimidatingly. Aiko frowned a little.
“Why is she doing that?”She said with curiosity.
“Mothers are very protective with their children. If they so much as suspect someone will harm them they act like a fierce komodo rhino” He said imitating the animals groan. “Your grandmother taught me that.”
“Same with daddies. But no one will ever harm you, my love.”He said protectively. “Because, if they even try...well…”
“You would knock them down with your firebending!” She said excitedly. “Because you are the best firebender in the world!”
When she said something like that, he felt as if it was true.
“I thought you were in a meetin
A Single Fire Lily. The sky had started darkening when Zuko decided that trying to read the petition scroll he was holding was impossible. Cursing under his breath, he shoved it aside and used his hot hands to rub his eyes. For what seemed like the hundredth time of the long day, he let out a worried sigh. He had hardly got any work done that day, as his mind was travelling elsewhere: Mai.A Single Fire Lily. by LadyOfSilver
The young knife-thrower was supposed to be at the palace this morning but the sun had now set and there was still no sign of her. After realizing that she wouldn't show up, he'd gone to her house only to have his concern escalated, as her mother told him that—as far as she knew—her daughter was with him. After having searched the palace and the gardens twice, the recently-crowned Fire Lord had ordered a capable team of guards to look in the Fire Nation Capital and they came back empty-handed. "Search again," he had insisted.
Not knowing what else to do, Zuko had returned back to his paperwork, reassuring himself that Ma

Chin Tao was supposed to go straight home from the Pre-Academy, but home appealed to her about as much mongoose-dragon liver (with fire onions) for dinner, so instead she dropped by the Boys' Pre-Academy, casually drifted into the crowds coming out of the school, and waited to see how long it would take them to realize there was a girl in their midst.
The stupid boys never caught on. Well, maybe they were stupid, or maybe Chin Tao was just that good at being a (pretty) boy.
When the amusement wore off and the boys started organizing a swordball game, she finally made her way home. There was no such thing as locked doors in the Capital, so she walked right through the front portal of her family's mansion. Supposedly, they used to have servants around to open doors and cook dinner, back when she had been a baby, but there were no servants now. When Mother was feeling coherent, she said that servants were too gossipy, that you couldn't trust them. But if that was

The first day of every school term at the Royal Fire Pre-Academy for Girls was always such a wonderful experience for Instructor Daoshi. She got to meet a new group of bright young ladies who would grow under her care to be the future leaders of the Fire Nation. Discovering their budding personalities would make the hours of patient instruction fly by, and seeing their strengths and interests blossom in the classroom was the all the reward Daoshi wanted for her service.
And this year, the Princess Azula would be starting school, right in Daoshi's class!
What could be better?
It was fifteen minutes until class would begin, and the Pre-Academy's students were assembling in the courtyard outside. Alone in her classroom, Daoshi straightened her robes and hummed a little tune (the Fire Nation anthem, because it was the only music that wasn't at least mildly illegal, probably because it had no lyrics and you couldn't dance to it, even in clogs). She wanted to l

Zuko opened his eyes slowly, the first beams of sun energy already calling his firebender blood and stripping him of slumber.
Mai was still sleeping; he could feel her soft breathe against his neck. Their legs were tangled and his arm was lying around her waist protectively.
He smiled remembering the last events of the previous evening, then proceeded to place gentle kisses on the crown of her head that slowly brought her back to consciousness.
She opened her eyes and looked up at him.
"Hey…" She said drowsy.
"Hi… " He said widening his smile.
She yawned and stretched in the bed trying to wear off sleepiness. Zuko took the opportunity to drink her in again. He knew he had to get off the bed in some more minutes, and this would probably be his last chance to see her naked body in what could be days. When she stopped stretching he li

"Disgusting," I scoffed, regarding my poor living arrangements, "I shouldn't be treated like an outcast. I'm royalty."
"No you're not," an all too familiar voice said. I looked past the bars of my cell and saw a tall figure in red robes with long dark brown hair, and rich amber eyes.
"Ursa," I said "I thought I banished you.
"You did, but Zuko had me located, so I'm back.
"Of course he did, such a mama's boy. It was your precious little son who had me locked up in this wretched cell. I deserve much better, I am his father after all."
" you sure don't act like it. You were ready to have him in the same conditions. You deserve to rot away in here after what you've done to him, your own son.
" he's a failure in my eyes. Always has been, always will be. At least Azula would support me, had she not gone insane."
"You couldn't be more wrong. Azula is now perfectly sane, ever since the Avatar took away her
